Carry-On or Checked Bag?

FAA guidance requires electronic smoking devices to remain on your person or in carry-on baggage, subject to airline requirements.

Not Allowed Checked Baggage

Electronic cigarettes and vaping devices must not be placed in checked baggage because of the battery and fire risk.

What If Your Carry-On Gets Gate-Checked?

FAA guidance says electronic cigarettes and vaping devices must remain with the passenger in the aircraft cabin. If your carry-on bag is going to be checked at the gate or planeside, remove the Geek Bar before handing the bag over.

Airline and International Rules Can Be Stricter

FAA and TSA rules address U.S. transportation and security requirements, but they are not the only rules that can apply to a trip.

Check your airline and destination before traveling. Airlines may impose additional limits, and the possession or importation of vaping products can be restricted or prohibited in some countries or jurisdictions. Do not assume that permission to pass through a U.S. airport means a vaping product is legal at your destination.

What About a Damaged Geek Bar?

Do not travel with a battery-powered device that is damaged, swollen, overheating, leaking or otherwise appears unsafe. FAA guidance restricts damaged or defective lithium-battery devices that could produce sparks, excessive heat or fire.
